I would like to invite you to attend the media night for Opera Warwick’s forthcoming production of Hansel and Gretel at Warwick Arts Centre Theatre from Thursday 12th – Saturday 14th January.

As the University of Warwick opera society, Opera Warwick brings opera to a new audience in a completely modern way – we freshen up the production to make them approachable and exciting for the young and those new to opera. With this production we have:

A new English translation written by Opera Warwick in collaboration with Kit Hesketh-Harvey targeted at ‘the Mighty-Boosh generation’

A modernised setting of the tale in a circus
A 45-piece orchestra
3 singers who have just been accepted into Music College
A cast of 100 school children from Kenilworth School
A truly fresh approach to youth opera!

Tickets for the media night on Friday 13th January must be reserved in advance from the Warwick Arts Centre Box Office by quoting ‘media’ on 02476 524 524. The performance starts at 7.15pm (leaving enough time to take your seat after the Arts Centre’s Mead Gallery opening party). During the interval complimentary drinks will be served in the upstairs bar in the Arts Centre. Both then and over drinks immediately after the performance there will be an opportunity to mix with, and ask questions of, the cast, crew and translators as well as members of the University community and Students’ Union. If you cannot make the Friday evening please reply to this email and we will reserve your tickets for another night.
